MY UGANDAN CHIL-the life of young mother
As many parents are doing little to reduce early pregnancies among school going children , the rate at which the malnourished children is increasing because their(parents and community members) have given the children a go ahead to marry when they can't even provide the basic needs like food , clothing and paying medical bills. Some of the parents have claimed that their sons and daughters are mature enough to provide for themselves the basic needs but when My Ugandan child Team visited visited Masika (16 years old) at her home in Acholi Quarters , she had this to say '' i normally have one meal a day which is either taken at lunch time or at supper time and this is complimented by a cup of black tea in case her and her family decide to miss some meals . Having a one year and half year old baby is also not immune to this sequence of taking meals , but if her husband gets work to do then he buys some food for them .
When we asked her about her parents' she just started carrying as she explained how she was chased away from home on the day the parents realized she was pregnant . Her husband Musa (19 years old) says that life is not easily especially when they go to bed hungry and just after a few hours in bed , their child wakes them up demanding for food as MY UGANDAN CHILD we have drawn programmes to help such young families with counseling services at a free cost and put them in our survivor teams where they are trained to become entrepreneurs using the materials near them for example making beads and necklaces from paper
among other projects .
please join us as we try to end this suffer brought about by encouraging early marriages .
